BIKE TO SCHOOL

After 70 semesters of keeping bikes safe and equipped on campus, we've learned a thing or two. If you are heading back to school with your bike, we have a few recommendations for the essentials you need.

A GOOD BIKE LOCK

The cheapest insurance you can buy is a good bike lock. Here are our favorites and the locks we use ourselves.

LIGHTS

After dusk they're required by Boulder County, campus police, and common sense. Check out lights we love.

HELMET

It's your BRAIN and it is in your best interest to protect it.

SEAT LEASH

Designed to keep the opportunist thief from walking away with your saddle and seat post, there is a reason we insist on installing one on every new bike that goes to campus: they work.

LOCKING SKEWERS

Every semester more wheels get stolen than bicycles. These lesser-known safety mechanisms keep your (rather expensive) wheels where they are.

BELL

When it comes to parting the sea of pedestrians on Boulder's multi-use paths, you have a few courses of action: Yell loudly to announce your presence, give the walker's calves a gentle nudge with your front wheel, wait impatiently and be perpetually late to class, or ring a bell. We recommend the latter and have a few fail-safe options to help you weave your way gracefully through pedestrian traffic.

WATER BOTTLE CAGE

We're at altitude here in Boulder and you will observe quickly everyone carries water everywhere. You can too!
