“University Bicycles Aspires To Unrelenting Friendliness.”
The cycling spirit drove Doug to open University Bicycles in March 1985. He secured a small basement location on the west end of Pearl Street in Boulder, Colorado and began to rent and repair anything he could. The business grew rapidly and within eight months was moved to the larger location at 9th and Pearl, where it resides today.
At University Bicycles we strive to fill our community’s cycling needs with honesty and integrity. We take pride in our friendly staff and expert service and we hope to exceed your expectations in every way. We are all avid cyclists and very active in our community and hope to see you having fun out on the roads, trails, and paths.
Boulder Valley Velodrome
There are approximately 26 velodromes in the United States. In 2004, Doug and Frank Banta, a longtime friend, hatched the idea to build an Olympic-caliber outdoor velodrome in Boulder County. After a few set backs during construction (courtesy of Mother Nature) the Boulder Valley Velodrome opened on January 1, 2015. The velodrome offers something for everyone, from the curious to the competitive. And of course, spectating is always free! Keep up with events and races by following the links below.
