Wolf Tooth was first to market with Cyclocross 1x specific chainrings because we saw Cyclocross as the perfect use for our Drop-Stop® technology. Since their release, the uses for these rings has expanded beyond Cyclocross to commuting, gravel riding, mountain bikes with 5-arm crank power meters, and even full on-road applications with the giant 50t rings. Fits 110 BCD 5 arm cranksets Drop-Stop technology. On Wolf Tooth’s patented wide/narrow chainring, the wide side of the tooth has maximum contact on the drive side which spreads the load and improves chainring life. The narrow side allows clearance for mud and debris which reduces friction. Alternating wide/narrow tooth pattern prevents chain derailment Compatibility: - These rings are for use with 110 BCD 5-arm cranksets. - Stock 2x bolts will not work. You will need bolts like our 6mm bolts which are optimized for single ring mounting. - Chainline - varies - these rings can be mounted in either the big or small ring position on a double cranksets. The most common mounting is in the big ring position because of chainstay clearance. The ring centerline is ~2mm from the ring's mounting face so they usually sit about 2mm closer to the frame than the stock big ring (depends on the stock ring) Recommendations - Recommend the use of a clutch-style rear derailleur for the best chain security. - If you plan to ride in very muddy conditions, we recommend a chainguide or chainkeeper in addition to a clutch-type rear derailleur! - Without these precautions, you may experience chaindrops and/or chainsuck. The direct mount chainrings for SRAM cranksets with the 3-bolt mounting interface. They replace your existing spider and chainring with one clean looking, lightweight, and stiff piece of machined billet. They are available in the Drop-Stop B tooth profile, which is optimized for SRAM Flattop chain. It is also compatible with all other 9-, 10-, 11-, and 12-speed chains except the Shimano 12-speed chain. Compatibility: - These direct mount chainrings will replace your existing chainring and spider or replace the direct mount ring on SRAM cranksets including the DUB cranks. The ring is attached via 3 bolts on the back side of the spider near the spindle. Drop-Stop ST is specifically for the Shimano 12-speed Hyperglide+ chain, which is used by GRX 12-speed. Drop Stop-B works with all other 9, 10, 11, and 12-spd chains, including SRAM Flattop. On Wolf Tooth’s patented wide/narrow chainring, the wide side of the tooth has maximum contact on the drive side which spreads the load and improves chainring life. The narrow side allows clearance for mud and debris which reduces friction. - Alternating wide/narrow tooth pattern prevents chain derailment Compatibility: - These rings are for use with 130 BCD 5-arm cranksets. - Do NOT fit on the cranksets for Shimano DA 9000 / Ultegra 6800 - Not compatible with Campy CX10/11. - SRAM Exogram cranksets with inset nut must use stock fifth bolt + spacer(s). The Force CX1 bolt features a fifth bolt with 1x specific shoulder. This kit can be found online. - 38T important note: The chain may contact the spider arm slightly when using the 38T chainring (see last photo in the product images). We recommend filing a small chamfer on the spider arm but you can also just install it and let the chain do the work. This is only an issue with the 38T as the 130 BCD was designed for 39T smallest ring. - Stock 2x bolts will not work. You will need bolts like our 6mm bolts which are optimized for single ring mounting. Our new Direct Mount Chainrings for SRAM 8-Bolt Mountain Cranks are optimized for the new SRAM Transmission mountain groupsets and T-Type chains. These are for folks who have the latest SRAM T-Type Transmission groupset that want a different chainring size beyond stock offering or upgrade to a Made In USA option with an optimized tooth profile for better performance. The 3mm offset is for SRAM MTB cranks with DUB WIDE spindles that are already at the 55mm chainline required for SRAM T-Type Transmission groupsets. The 0mm offset is for SRAM XX1 SL cranks with DUB spindles to move the chainline from 52mm to 55mm. More power, better traction, less shifting. Wolf Tooth oval chainrings use our proprietary PowerTrac design that has all the benefits of oval but without the funky, uneven pedal stroke. Ride one once and you’ll wonder why you waited so long to try oval. Think of an oval chainring as two chainrings in one. A major benefit of the oval is how the shape of the chainring alters your gearing in two important phases of your pedal stroke by harnessing your body’s natural biomechanics. Here’s how it works. The area of the chainring with the larger diameter engages with the chain at the optimal point on the downstroke, which is what’s known as the Power Zone. If you were to look at a clock, the Power Zone would be between 1-5 and 7-11. Conversely, the Recovery Zone – back to the clock face, between 11-1 and 5-7 – is the weakest part of the pedal stroke, when the oval maximizes your efficiency. A 34T oval chainring behaves like a 36T chainring when you want power while behaving like a 32T chainring when you’re climbing. We’ve also engineered our oval chainrings to provide smoother, more efficient pedal rotation. This equates to better traction because of steadier torque on the rear wheel. With a Wolf Tooth oval chainring, you can harness more of your strength in the Power Zone, while having easier pedaling in the Recovery Zone. The Wolf Tooth 76 BCD chainrings work great on any 76 BCD spider or crankset. These will replace the more expensive rings used on SRAM XX1 spiders or other manufacturer's spiders such as Cannondale.
